Attica prefecture is the region in the south of mainland Greece . The area is steeped in history, myths and legends. It was in this area that the ancient Greeks developed the idea of democracy, culture and other creative ideas which have helped to transform the world today. The region was first inhabited in the 4 th millennium BC. The area has many links to the past through its ruins, towns and cities such as, Eluisis, Amphiareion, and Marathon not forgetting Athens . Through these historical links, the region has developed into a progressive and modern community, where the old and new go together to create an exciting destination for the tourist and scholars. The region has so much to see and experience, we have listed just a few to whet you appetite.
